Choosing the most suitable design features for your police locker room needs a lot of consideration. Police lockers and other storage equipment are a taxpayer investment and therefore, there are a few factors to consider to ensure they are robust enough to last a while, but also be durable enough to hold lots of heavy police gear.

Emergency services lockers are incredibly important. Not only for housing large equipment bags and on-duty items, but also for the personal belongings of emergency services staff. Furthermore, the design of the police locker room will need to carefully consider space requirements to maximise the efficiency of the locker room space, ensuring there is ample space for each individual, but also a shared community space.

Police Lockers Equipment

To begin, it’s a good idea to assess which items will need to be housed in the police lockers, such as armour, heavy kit bags, vests, hats/helmets, etc.

Some of the most common items stored will be:

Workout gear
Uniform and hangers
Duty belt
Shoes
Toiletries
Personal belongings

Other items may include:

A radio
Gas canisters
A BATON
Gloves
Firearms and ammunition
Taser/other weapons
Protective vest
Body camera

Key Features

There is a lot to consider for an emergency services locker room. Aside from the police locker design, there are some key features that need to be integrated for a functional space. These are listed below.

Separate Internal Locking

A separate locking compartment is useful as it provides an extra layer for internal security inside the locker. Ideal for keeping money and other personal belongings. These compartments are typically cube-shaped and can be secured with a cam lock pr padlock.

Durability

Police lockers must be strong and durable to withstand heavy equipment bags, other heavy-duty kits, and possible bumps and scrapes. Additionally, these lockers are designed to last a long time, and therefore will need to be built of strong materials for this reason.

Charging Station

Charging stations inside lockers provide a safe place to charge devices during off-hours, meaning they’re ready to use when on duty.

Bespoke Benches and Lockers

If there is space, providing lockers with bench seating is a good idea. This provides built-in storage and seating, for a functional and well-equipped police locker room. Benches provide a more useful locker room space also, providing staff with a place to sit and relax at the end of their shift, or to chat with other staff who may be beginning work when others are leaving.

Drying Rack

A drying rack inside the locker space is useful for drying wet or damp work gear to dry naturally while off-duty. Items such as body armour will benefit from drying out between shifts.

Material of Lockers

Locker material is incredibly important, especially for police lockers. For bespoke emergency services lockers, strong and durable materials will be favourable over more boutique finishes such as wood.
